Linda Blair
Linda Blair was five years old at the time she became the first child actress to get a role in The Exorcist. She had been a model for three years prior to her role as the child that was demonized, Regan. Linda quickly gained worldwide fame, was awarded the Golden Globe, and seemed to be destined to win the Academy Award for that role, but when it leaked details of how certain aspects in the film were not performed by the actress herself (the demon voice was recorded with Mercedes McCambridge, and eight seconds of a stunt dummy were employed) that dream broke, and with that disappointment most likely was the beginning of the end towards what appeared to be the beginning of an A-list career. Over the next few years, she managed to secure leading roles in a wide range of movies. This included the acclaimed TV films Born Innocent and Sarah T. - Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic in addition to Exorcist II - The Heretic. But when she was peer pressured into taking cocaine prior to the age of 18 it triggered an arrest and subsequent sentencing to three years of probation. Linda's work in Hollywood had been reduced to B films, and occasionally appearances on television after her highly-publicized arrest in connection with cocaine possession.
